Army Recipes, TM 10-412 · 1946
Recipes from the U.S. Army’s 1946 cookbook, cut down to home size
In 1946 the War Department printed the cookbook every Army mess hall cooked from. Most of its recipes fed 100.
We cut each one to a family’s worth, usually six servings, and swapped wartime staples like powdered lemon juice for things you can buy now. AI rewrote the steps for a home kitchen, and every change is logged. Each recipe keeps the page as printed, one tap away.
Two dozen home versions are free to read right here. The rest open in your recipe box when you save them, also free.
The book is a U.S. government work, so it’s in the public domain. Read the scan at the Internet Archive.
